CAMERA RESOURCE
Google Nest cameras on iPhone and iPad
Google Device Access documents API-generated RTSP or WebRTC streams according to the camera and its Nest/Home app state.
App compatibility: not physically tested. These notes describe manufacturer documentation. They do not verify playback, audio, camera movement or recording access in CameraViewer.
Connection details to check
- Documented connection
- RTSP, WebRTC
- Credentials
- Streams require device permissions and generated session tokens. A Google account password is not a local RTSP credential.
Prepare the camera
- Check the device supportedProtocols value in the official API documentation.
- For Indoor/Outdoor models, distinguish Nest app use from migration to Google Home.
Model and service limits
- RTSP URLs are client-specific and expire with their session tokens. WebRTC uses a negotiated session rather than a permanent camera URL.
- Sessions last five minutes. WebRTC session extensions require wired power; cameras running on battery power ignore extension requests. Plugged-in cameras count as wire-powered, while battery-powered doorbells require a new session.
- CameraViewer has no verified Google Device Access connection or WebRTC viewing flow.
- No physical camera has been tested in CameraViewer. Manufacturer documentation does not establish app compatibility.
Your next step
Use Google Home or Nest viewing; evaluate Device Access only as a separate future app capability.
